The birth father, Nick, died, and the birth mother, Terrsy/Trese, brought the kids to Wyoming, As she had to work, the kids were left to fend for themselves They were taken away from her and sent to an orphanage and from there, they were placed in foster homes.
John was placed with Le Roy and Lena Nazer, in 1917, and they adopted him between 1917 and 1923. In 1923, Le Roy and Lena got divorced, and LeRoy moved to Utah, where he married Della Pendleton in 1925.
