Clare and his family were in Buchannan Iowa when he appeared. They moved to Putnam and Cass by 1900. At 1910 they were in Boulder Colorado and at this point Clare had become a lineman for the Telephone company. He moved on to Bozeman Montana and in 1917 married Awilda Jones which was his second marriage. He had 3 children by then as well.
in Montana he joined Mtn. telephone and telegraph co. And this became his life long employer. from 1920 on he lived in and around Bozeman.
