ELIZABETH CASKEY ABBEY, died peacefully on Thursday, the 22nd of April 2010, at the age of 94. Her final days were spent surrounded by her loved ones.

Elizabeth was born in Campbellsville, Kentucky, on the 18th of August 1915, to Robert and Elvira Buchanan Caskey. She attended the University of Colorado were she was a member of Delta Gamma Sorority.

"Mimi," as her grandchildren and great grandchildren so fondly called her, loved spending time with her seven great grandchildren and took great pride in being their great grandmother.

A descendant of America's 15th President, James Buchanan, Elizabeth was a member of the Daughters of the Revolution and an active member of the Republican Party. She supported the Delta Gamma Foundation as well as various other charitable organizations. She was also a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church. Elizabeth was an avid bridge player.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Patricia Abbey and her husband Ronald E. Abbey. She is survived by her son Michael Abbey and his wife Karen of Streetman, Texas; her granddaughters, Kimberly Parks and her husband Joe, Michelle Stewart and her husband Duncan, and Allison Cravens and her husband Marc, all of Houston, Texas. She is also survived by her seven great grandchildren, Caroline and Cullen Stewart, Thomas, Abbey and Andrew Parks, and Chloe and Charlie Cravens of Houston, Texas.

The family would like to express their gratitude to all the wonderful doctors, nurses, and administrators at Acuity Hospital for taking such good care of Elizabeth during her final days.

A private family memorial service is to be conducted in Austin, Texas at a later date.

In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions in Elizabeth's name be directed to The American Heart Association, 10060 Buffalo Speedway, Houston, TX, 77054.
