Truxton Heywood grew up to be a farmer, owning 120 acres next to his father and just north of Wayne, Michigan. He had two sons, one of whom died in infancy. Not long after, and while working at the County House (Eloise) an infant girl was left on the doorstep. Having just lost a child, Truxton took the baby home and he and Helen agreed to adopt and raise it. They named her Jennie Prudence. The Truxton Heywood Family bible is located in the collections of the Wayne Historical Museum, Wayne, Michigan.
