He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 5662 in Newport and Disabled American Veterans and an Army veteran of World War II who received four Bronze Stars.
Survivors include his son, Richard Deaton of Newport; daughter, Sandra Feinauer of Alexandria; Bertie Deaton Werner; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, May 14 at Morning Star Christian Life Center in Newport. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday, May 13 at the church. Burial will be in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North in Williamstown.
