Max E. Abels, 49, died Thursday, Aug. 3, 2000, in Biloxi, MS.

Mr. Abels was a former resident of Kosciusko, MS; and a resident of Biloxi, MS. He was retired from the military, serving in the U.S. Air Force and Marine Corps, and was a veteran of Vietnam. He received the Meritorious Medal, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, Longevity Service Award Ribbon, NCO Professional Military Education Graduate Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Overseas Ribbon Long Tour and Short Tour, Training Ribbon, Vietnam Service Medal, RVN Campaign Medal and RVN Gallantry Cross with Palm. He was retired from foreign services.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Abels of Biloxi, MS; three daughters, Alicia Ables of Biloxi, MS; Andrea Carrizo of Gulfport, MS; and Theresa Abels of Atlanta, GA; and four brothers, Sidney Abels, Charles K. Ables, Joel Allen Ables, and Juston L. Ables, all of Kosciusko, MS.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 tonight at Jordan Funeral Home in Kosciusko, MS.
A service will be at 3 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home chapel.
Burial in Parkway Cemetery in Kosciusko, MS.
