George Sylvester White, 82, of 132 Glenn Avenue, died at his home Saturday at 11 a.m. He was born in Grafton, Taylor County, W.Va., Mar. 8, 1864, the son of Thomas Wayman and Marth Ellen Glen White. He came to Scotland County, Mo., and married Mary E. Sallee April 15, 1888. Both his first wife and a daughter are dead. On Nov. 28, 1916, he married Frances Fordney at Ft. Madison, and the couple moved to Burlington. He was a member of the First Christian Church at Milport, Mo., and before his retirement in 1929 was a carpenter by trade. Surviving are his widow, 2 stepsons, R.W. Fordney and E.H. Otto, Chicago; 1 stepdaughter, Mrs. Fred Machholz, Burlington; a brother, John, Seattle; 3 sisters, Mary Wallace and Jennie Matlick, Seattle; and Mrs. Ellen Matlick, Rutledge, Mo.; several nieces and nephews. Services will be held in Prugh's Chapel Monday at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery
