Alpheus Currant was a resident of Potosi, Wis.
He enlistedin the Union Army from the state of Wisconsin on 4-22-1861.
He was wounded at the battle of Gainesville, Va. and
taken prisoner at the Battle of Gettysburg. He was
transferred to Co D 2nd Wis Inf on 2-26-1864.
Military pension granted 1879.

Saturday, June 15, 1895 "Death of an Old Soldier"
Alpheus Currant, an Uncle of James Endicott of the Satsop Valley, and who went to the Soldiers Home at Orting about a year ago, died on the 27th of May, at that place, of old age. Mr. Currant was 83 years of age and fought in the Mexican War and also in "The Rebellion" (Civil War)and came to Mason Co., from Wisconsin 6 years ago. Mrs. Lucinda Endicott of Satsop is his only sister, besides whom he leaves a large circle of friends."
