Winthrop.— The funeral of George Pritchard, 87, who died at his home in Massena street Sunday, was held yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Congregational church, Rev. J. H. Ruston, pastor, officiating.
His daughter, Mrs. Ola Courser, who has lived with him and cared for him, and his daughter, Mrs. Edith Sheldon of Canton, were with him when he died.
Mr. Pritchard was born March 15, 1854, at Holmes Hill, son of William and Lydia Rice Pritchard. He attended school on the same spot where the school building now stands. When eight years old, his parents moved the family to a large farm at Buckton. At the age of 21, he married Miss Emily (Emma) Johnson and excepting two years at Fort Jackson they lived at Buckton until 34 years ago when they came to Winthrop. After owning and living in the home on Main and Maple street corner a short time, they bought the A. T. Richey place which is still the Pritchard home. After 53 years together, his wife passed away on December 10, 1919. His four brothers, Daniel, Leander, Truman and Lorenzo, and sisters, Mrs. Phoebe Felton and Mrs. Sally Austin, died many years ago. One sister, Mrs. Helen Travse, who lived near her brother, passed away a few years ago. One son, Elba, died at the age of six. A grand-daughter, Mrs. Cleora Baker of Canton, passed away last May.
He held town offices for 28 years and was agent for the St. Lawrence Farmers Insurance Company 46 years. Besides his two daughters, Mr.Pritchard leaves two grand-children, Lloyd Converse of Hopkinton and Mrs. Mabel Wilcox of Brasher Falls, and seven great grandchildren, Helen, Ruth and James Converse, Hopkinton; Allene, Howard and Donald Wilcox, Brasher Falls, and Margaret Smith, Ogdensburg.
