Anne M. Masterson, 87, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2010.

She was born June 8, 1923, in Lincoln, Ill., to Ervin and Josephine Snook. She was the eldest of two daughters. Anne graduated from Washburn University in Topeka and entered the U.S. Navy in 1944. She was very proud of her service as an air traffic controller.

While in the Navy, she met her husband, Tex. They were married in Astoria, Ore., and remained married until his death in 1970.

She was an active member of the Episcopal Church of the Holy Trinity for over 50 years. Anne was a proud, caring mother, wife and was actively employed until last year.

She was the office manager for Trinity School for many years, retiring and continued to work. She was an avid worker of crossword puzzles, and often sought to further her education.

She was fond of her cats throughout her life, always feeding strays, and ensuring they were cared for medically.

She was particularly fond of jazz, being a longtime supporter of the West Texas Jazz Society. She and Tex played bridge avidly during their marriage. She also played in duplicate bridge tournaments. They also participated in the Great Books Society for many years.

Early in their marriage, she would join Tex in hunting for quail and dove. She was an avid fan of golf and Major League Baseball, especially the Chicago Cubs, often keeping play by play scores of games.

Since retiring last year she had volunteered at Holy Trinity Church and was active in their knitting group. She demanded respect and had a kind heart.

A special recognition to her son, Eric and his wife, Kathy, for the great sacrifice and love shown over the past months. She will be missed.

Anne was preceded in death by her parents; sister Mary Lou; and by her husband, Tex. She is survived by her son, Bob and his wife, Donna, of San Angelo, Texas; son Eric and his wife, Kathy, of Tomball, Texas; daughter Margaret Masterson of Midland; and granddaughter Michelle Salinas and husband Donald and their children, Madison and Nicholas.

Graveside service were held at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2010, in Resthaven Memorial Park in Midland, Texas. A memorial service followed at 10 a.m. at the Episcopal Church of the Holy Trinity with Father John Wedgwood-Greenhow officiating.
