He was born on May 8, 1928 in Hopkinton, son of Lloyd and Mildred Meacham Converse.
He married Mary Lou Johnson on Sept. 10, 1946, at the Church of the Holy Cross in Hopkinton. She died Jan. 21, 1995.
He was a 1945 graduate of Parishville-Hopkinton High School. Mr. Converse was a pot tender at Aluminum Company of America, Massena, until his retirement, after more than 30 years.
Surviving was a son James L. and his wife Debbie, Queensbury; a daughter Helen and her husband, Kenneth Brown, Tucson; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Linda and Richard Daby, Fort Jackson and Ruth Danforth, Colorado Springs, CO; two sisters-in-law, Mary Converse, Hopkinton, and Kay Converse, Massena; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A daughter, Kathy Zahler, died March 31, 1994. Two brothers also died before him, Charles Robert on June 29, 2001, and David L. on Dec. 21, 2003. A sister, Helen Converse, died in 1936.
