He was born Sept. 21, 1900, son of William and Matilda Fayette Converse. He was educated at Fort Jackson schools. He operated a dairy farm all of his life on the Converse Road.

He was an avid fisherman and baseball fan and a member of the Tri-Town Senior Citizens and the Parishville Hilltoppers.

He was survived by his wife, Ethel; two daughters, Mrs. Hollis (Edna) Murray, South Colton; Mrs. Robert (Eleanor) Barr, of Sanfordville; a daughter-in-law, Sue Converse, of Fort Jackson; and a sister, Alberta McIntyre, of Syracuse.

He was predeceased by a son, Lawrence, in June of 1988; one grandson, Richard Murray; one brother, Leroy; and one sister, Beatrice Converse.
