She was born on Feb. 20, 1902 in Potsdam, the daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth (Gardner) Thurston. She married Leo James Converse. He died on Oct. 2, 1988. She moved from Fort Jackson to Mayfield Drive in Potsdam in 1990.
She was a member of St. Mary's Church, Potsdam, and a former member of Holy Cross Parish and Alter & Rosary, Hopkinton. She was a member of the Hopkinton Home Bureau, Hopkinton-Fort Jackson Bridge Blub, Parishville-Hopkinton Hill toppers Senior Citizens Club and served on the Hopkinton Town Board of Elections for many years.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Edna Murray, South Colton, and Mrs. Robert (Eleanor) Barr, Sanfordville; a sister-in-law, Alberta McIntyre, Syracuse: a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Sue Converse, Fort Jackson; five grandsons, two great-granddaughters, and three great-great, grandson. She was predeceased by a son, Lawrence, three sisters, four brothers, and a grandson and a great-granddaughter.
