The community was deeply saddened and shocked when the news came that Beatrice Converse had been drowned that afternoon while bathing at Waddington. She had gone from Massena, where she had been visiting her mother, to Waddington with a party of friends. Miss Converse was a good swimmer and must have been taken with cramps. Divers searched for the body for two days at Waddington, but it was not until Sunday that it was found in Cornwall. Miss Converse was the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. William Converse of Ft Jackson and was one of our bright and popular young ladies. She was 16 years old. The deep sympathy of the entire community goes out to Mr. & Mrs. Converse in their affliction. The funeral for Beatrice Converse was held Sunday from the Catholic Church. Internment is in the Ft. Jackson-Hopkinton cemetery.
