He was born in Beechertown on Sept. 10, 1884, one of five sons of James and Ellen Geddis Converse. He attended Brasher and Stockholm High school. He married Miss Bertha Wilson, daughter of John and Agnes O'Brien Wilson, and they lived for many years on their farm at Buckton. Two children were born to them, Roswell of Parishville and Mrs. Merle (Gertrude) Hodges of Lisle, NY.
Surviving were his wife; his son and daughter; a brother, Albion of Winthrop; two granddaughters, Patricia Vera and Ann Louise Hodges of Lisle and several nieces and nephews. Among them are; Harry and Harold Converse and Mrs. Mable Wilcox of Winthrop and Lloyd Converse of Hopkinton.
His brothers, William J., Charles and Frank all died several years ago.
Burial was made in Union Cemetery in Buckton.
