She was born on Dec. 7, 1928 in Potsdam, daughter of Edmund and Leota Blair Johnson (Fischer).
She married James Converse Sept. 10, 1946, in the Church of the Holy Cross.
A foster parent for more than 30 years, she was a driver for St. Lawrence County, was active in the Hopkinton 4-H Club and the Democratic Committee and was an election inspector in Hopkinton. She enjoyed designing crafts and flowers for weddings.
Surviving were her husband; a son James, Queensbury; a daughter, Mrs. Kenneth (Helen) Brown, Tucson; six grandchildren; four great-grandsons, and a brother, Milton Johnson, Tucson.
A daughter, Kathy R. Zahler, died March 31.
