CIVIL WAR VET TAKEN BY DEATH
R. E. "Daddy" Pool Dies Monday At Home in Lawton

Reuben E. Pool, who resided at 920 South Seventh street, died Monday at 1:20 a.m. following a brief illness, although he had been in failing health for the past four months.
"Daddy" Pool, as he was known among his friends, was born near Baltimore, Md., March 14, 1844. He moved to Bedford, Iowa, thence to Lawton in 1901, residing on his farm 11 miles southwest of the city until 1913, when he moved to Lawton, residing here since.
Early in life he united with the Methodist Church, and has always been a close church man, lived a consistent Christian life, and by his genial disposition and friendly nature, he endeared himself into the hearts of many who sympathize with the members of his family in his death.

Served In Civil War

He entered the Civil War as a private in 1862, served throughout the war. He was mustered out as a corporal in company "C," 6th Maryland Infantry. He was a member of the local G. A. R. post.
He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Otto Elling, of Lawton, R. F. D., two sons, C. O. Pool, of Beaver Lodge, Alberta, Canada, and G. A. Pool, of Bedford, Iowa. A sister, Mrs. Ruth Parrish, of Baltimore, the sole survivor of a family of 14. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren and other relatives.
Funeral services will be held at the Ritter Funeral Home, Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. following which other services will be held at Wesley chapel at 3 p.m. Mr. Pool formerly resided near Wesley chapel and had a large part in the building of the church.
Services will be conducted by Rev. John Walker Coontz, pastor of the First Methodist Church, of which Mr. Pool was a faithful member. Burial will be made in Highland cemetery beside his wife who passed away on Sept. 21, 1921.
