Enlisted, 1889, in Troop A Cavalry, NYNG, shortly after it mustered in as a unit, in New York City. He service a short time in Troop A Cavalry being discharged in 1890, but must have paraded with the Troop at the laying of the cornerstone of the Soldiers' and Sailors" Arch at the entrance of Prospect Park.
