Death OF
Mr. Perrow (As Typed)

R.L. Perrow,Former Sheriff
of Campbell County, Passes
Away at age 82. III Only
Four Days

A large concource of friends, and a gathering of the Perrow clan assembled at the home of Robert Lee Perrow at Rustburg, Monday morning to pay their last tribute of respect, as his remains were laid to rest in the burial ground of his parents, John Fleming and Martha Cowling Perrow, near Rustburg.

The hundreds of persons who entered the home and yard and those who lined the hillsides leading into the home, gave evidence of the esteem and devotion of his many friends.

The deceased was 82 years of age and while it was known he was gradually succumbing to the vicissitudes of age, he was ill only a few days and the end came on Friday at 10 a.m.., at the Memorial Hospital,Lynchburg.

The deceased was united in marriage in 1888 to Miss Lucy Coke of Arkansas. To this union 8 children were given. He is survived by the following: Stanley Perrow,Mrs. Perrow Moon and Mrs. N.A. Samouce of Lynchburg, Mrs. D.S. Darden of Hertford N.C., and Mrs. W.H. Jenkins of Norfolk, also surviving him are thirteen grandchildren, four of whom are in the U.S. Armed Forces. He had three sons in World War One. R.L.Perrow was killed in action during that conflict.

Mr. Perrow was for 40 years High Sheriff of Campbell County, the oldest in point of service, in the United States. He seldom had a opponent at election time.

As a public servant he was greatly beloved, and while it was his duty to administer judgement as prescribed County Triounal, it was ever his desire to "temper justice with mercy" whenever it lay within his power to do so. It has been said of him that he was "generous to a fault", and his life long friend, Rev. J.W. Marsh of Pamplin, with whom he talked a short time before his passing, said of him during the last rites: "He never sought adulation, he wished no eulogy and he needed none, the man's life speaks for itself.

Edward Blankenship rendered a violin solo entitled "Face to Face," which was followed by the poem "Crossing the Bar," read by Rev. Marsh, both favorites of the deceased. Rev. W.L. Asher pastor of Rustburg Methodist church, assisted in the funeral services.
