Carl was the first born child of Carl George and Lillian E Vollmer. He was born Sept 28, 1909 in Carrick, Allegheny, PA.In his younger years he lived, along with his parents, with his maternal grandparents: Margaret Sacher Kraus and Joseph Kraus.
At the age of 20, Carl was working in the steel mills (Metal Works) but was also a student at the University of Pittsburgh. After graduating he continued his education at the University of Pittsburgh Dental School where he graduated 2nd in his class.
On Aug 1, 1938 he married Loretta McElwee at St. Peter's Church in McKeesport, Allegheny, PA. This marriage lasted barely 10 years but the two did give birth to my mother, Barbara.
On Aug. 28th, 1948 Carl married Ruth L. Johnston. With this marriage he had 2 more children: Carl G III and Janet L.
Carl died of lung cancer and emphysema. He was 64 years old.
