Mr. J. A. Barker, son of D. L. Barker of the Boxwood neighborhood met a sudden death, while in the employ of the Virginia Street and Bridge Company in West Virginia, on August 4th, last.
A cable broke and Mr. Barker fell across some bolted iron railings, the fall causing almost instant death, the young man living only about three hours.
The remains were brought to his old home near Boxwood and laid to rest in the family burying ground.
Mr. Barker was about 25 years. old and is survived by his wife, to whom he had only been married about two weeks, by his father and mother, four brothers and one sister.
