He retired in 1976 after 46 1/2 years as a machinist for the Morton Salt Company. He was an active member of St. Mary's Church. Gordon Cody was in the local fire department holding various offices including chief for over 50 years. He was a charter member of the Rescue Squad, grand marshall of the Wyoming County Fair.
He is survived by his widow, Bertha Yager, whom he wed July 30, 1932; two daughters, Kay (Paul) Coffey, Winifred (Keith) Granger; a son Maurice; two brothers and a sister.
