The documents citing the birth year for Lucretia are varied, but in the US 1850 Census, Roane County, Tennessee, Lucretia, age 17, is shown with her mother and siblings. In US 1860 Census of Roane County, Tennessee, Lucretia's age is listed as 22 and her first husband Jasper Newton McAnelly, who later died of disease at Fort Loudon during the Civil War, is listed as age 21. She appears to "get younger" with each census and married men who were younger than she was. Lucretia's death certificate has birth date as unknown and her age is estimated at 72 years, which is the date etched in her grave marker. Actually, Lucretia would have been at least 88 years old when she died. She must looked young for her age!
Lucretia's father was Jonathan Cook, who died before 1850, and her mother was Sarah Farne.
Lucretia married Jasper Newton McNally, who was called Newt, on February 14, 1859. After Newt's death on May 21, 1865, Lucretia married John Ballard Cunningham on December 30, 1866. Both marriages took place in Roane County, Tennessee. Both husbands were about ten years younger than Lucretia.
