Daughter of Alva and Nellie (Ulin) Pfeaster. She married Kelsey D. Hickman in Iowa on 24 February 1945. Shortly afterward, she and her family moved to Belleville IL, where she was a cook at Scott AFB IL for 25 years and also worked at several restaurants in the Belleville and Fairview Height IL area. She was affectionately known as "Mom" by the airmen she came into contact with when she worked at Scott AFB. She also served as a crossing guard at the William Holiday and Pontiac Schools in Fairview Heights IL and did volunteer service to the Boy Scouts of America. She is survived by her husband, daughters Linda Klossner and Dona Friel, a son John Hickman, 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and one sister, Marjorie (Pfeaster) Sory. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, Robert and Kelsey W. Hickman, a grandson, Michael Manion, a brother, Merle Pfeaster, and a son-in-law, Joe Friel.
