Mr. Banning was an Army veteran, serving during the Vietnam War. He worked for the City of St. Clair in several capacities, ending his career there as the City Superintendent. He moved to Inverness, FL in 1986 and worked as the City Manager for 8 years. Mr. Banning was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, St. Clair, MI and served on the Vestry, including a term as Senior Warden. Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Dianna M. Banning of Inverness, FL; a son, Geoffrey W. (Rachel) Banning of Inverness, FL, a daughter, Kimberly A. Banning and Ron Leder of Surgarloaf Key, FL, 2 brothers, Thomas (Cheri) Banning of Yorkville, IL, and Robert (Martha) Banning of Phoenix, AZ, a sister, Carolyn (Dennis) VanSlambrouck of San Antonio, TX; and 2 grandchildren, Savannah A. Banning and Geoffrey G. Banning. He was preceded in death by his son, Bruce D. Banning II. A memorial service will be held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, St. Clair, Michigan at a later date.
