Emmett B. Fisher was born April 5, 1930, in Grand Forks, N.D., the son of Roland and Louise (Newman) Fisher. He grew up at Logan Center, N.D. and graduated from Larimore High School.
He then enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1951, and was stationed in San Antonio, Texas and Sacramento, Calif. On Dec. 23, 1953, he was united in marriage to Betty Margaret Eider on the Fisher Family Farm in Logan Center. They made their home on the farm until moving into Northwood in 1965.
In 1975 they purchased the farm where he farmed for many years. Emmett also worked as an over-the-road truck driver since 1960 and continued until November of 2010.
He was a member of the Larimore United Methodist Church, the Northwood American Legion and the Goose River Hoof and Wheel Tractor Club.
Emmett will be dearly missed by his wife of 59 years, Betty; children: Susan (Donald) Graves, Nathan (Jill) Fisher, and Amy (David) Gunderson; grandchildren: Lee (Amy) Graves, Shannon (Mark) Powell, Drake Fisher, Alexis Gunderson and Taylor Gunderson; sisters: Beverly Marien, Rena Thurman, Janet Nissen, and Judith Metcalf; brother, Jess (Nancy) Fisher; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Dorothy Fugleberg; niece, Jennifer Marien; and nephew, Ray Thurman.
