Mrs. George A. "Mickie" Dobbs, 85, of Rome, passed away Monday morning November 22, 2010, at her home.

Mrs. Dobbs was born in Jenkinsburg, GA. June 29, 1925, the daughter of the late Marquis Wilton Childs and Pauline Joyner Childs. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband George A. Dobbs, January of 1988, a daughter; Dr. Susan Lynn Dobbs in June of 2008, two brothers; Robert Wilton Childs and Billy Mitchel Childs and one sister Bettie Childs Chisolm.

Before her retirement, Mrs. Dobbs was employed with the City of Rome for 25 years as the Director of Rome Clean Community Commission. She was a wonderful mother and a friend to all.

Survivors include two daughters; Marian Lee Dobbs of Sibley, LA and Anne Elizabeth Gilbert and her husband Mike of Rome; five grandchildren Kimberly Anne Miller of San Diego, CA., Luis Joseph Dobbs of Austin TX., Charles Christopher Houlton of Sibley, LA., William Blake Gilbert of KY., and Tyler Brooks Gilbert of Rome, two great grandchildren; Katelyn Nicole Miller and Ryan Kourtis Miller of San Diego, CA. and two sisters Katheryn Almand of Dacula, GA., and Sara Martha Childs of Elberton, GA. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday November 24, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Jack Karch officiating. Interment will be at Sunset Hills Cemetery following the service.

The family will receive friends tonight (Tuesday) from 6 until 8:00 p.m. at Daniel's Funeral Home. Those serving as Pall Bearers are: Blake Gilbert, Bob Francisco, Pat Jones, Tyler Gilbert, Blaine Williams and Doug Childs. Pall Bearers are asked to be at the church Wednesday no later than 10:45 a.m.

In lieu of flowers the family respectfully requests that memorial contributions be made to The American Cancer Society, 3 Central Plaza, Rome, GA. 30161-3233
