Peter Morland Churchill was born in Amsterdam and educated in England, he went to Cambridge University and read modern languages.
Churchill served as a British pro-Consul at Oran in 1934.
After the outbreak of the Second World War Peter joined the intelligence service as a intelligence officer. He later joined the French Section of the Special Operations Executive.
After training he carried a number of very successful operations and was promoted to the rank of Captain.
In August 1942 Churchill was sent to Cannes in the South of France to organise the Spindle Network. It was here that Peter met Odette Sansom and a romance between these two in such very dangerous circumstances developed.
Here Peter organised the delivery of supplies and weapons fro the Spindle Network and re-located the network to Annecy.
After some time the German Intelligence Service the Adwehr, managed to infiltrate the network with their own agents.
Later Hogo Bleicher arrested Peter and Odette at St Jorioz.
They were both tortured and brutally interrogated - then sent to concentration camps. They both had a cover story stating they were married and related to Prime Minister Winston Churchill. Although held captive in the concentration camps they were not executed probably because of this cover story.
