Miss Mary M. Newell, about 22, of Gainesville, Ga., representative of a home-talent play producing company, was in the Price Memorial Hospital in Harrodsburg yesterday in a grave condition as the result of a bullet would through the temple. Police said the wound was self inflicted.
Miss Newell was found in her room at the Dixie Inn, Harrodsburg, where she had lived for the last week. She had taken a revolver from the room of another boarder, and left a note apologizing for taking the weapon and directing that her mother & sister, at Gainesville, be notified. The note gave no reason for her act.
Hospital physicians held no hope for her recovery.
