Served in Co. B, 7th New Hampshire Volunteer Infantry Regiment. Born in Gloucester, MA, and later a Nashua resident, Adams enlisted on November 15, 1861, at the age of 18. He was mustered in on November 20, 1861. He re-enlisted and was again mustered in on February 27, 1864. He was wounded at Ware Bottom Church, VA, and died of his wounds on the following day, June 17, 1864, at Point of Rocks, VA.


His name is inscribed on the Derry Civil War Monument.
