Esther Brockway

Mrs. Esther May Brockway, 53, of Petersburg, Mich., and a resident of Toledo until 1950, died Monday in her home. She had been a sales representative the last two for Avon Products. Surviving are her husband, Walter, sons, Gary and John; daughters, Mrs. Helen Shelden, Sally and Kathleen Brockway; sisters, Mrs. Ruth Pluszczynski, Mrs. Oral Rogers, and Mrs. Dorothy King, and brothers, Bernard and Roy Hatt. Services will be at noon Thursday in the Spencer Mortuary, Petersburg.

PETERSBURG - Mrs. Walter O. (Esther May) Brockway, 53, of 17253 Todd Rd. died after suffering an apparent heart attack Monday in her home.

Friends may call after 6:30 tonight in the Spencer Funeral Home, where services will be at noon Thursday. The Rev. Joseph Graybell will officiate and burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery.

Born Aug. 19, 1929, Flint, she was the daughter of Orlo and Hazel (McLeod) Hatt. She married Walter Brockway Sept. 9, 1950, in Petersburg, where they have lived for 32 years.

Mrs. Brockway was a member of the Auxiliary to Summerfield Post 6509, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and of Monroe County Camp Fire.

She is survived by her husband, two sons, Gary L. of Petersburg and John O. of Oklahoma; three daughters, Mrs. Cecil (Helen) Shelden of Dundee, and Sally A. and Kathleen A., both at home; two brothers Bernard E. Hatt of Petersburg and Roy A. Hatt of Burt; three sisters, Mrs. Ruth Pluszczynski of Lansing, Mrs. Richard (Oral) Rogers of Fort Worth, Texas, and Mrs. Gerald (Dorothy) King of Temperance, and five grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, a daughter and a brother.

Services were Thursday, Jan 27th at noon from the Spencer Funeral Home with The Rev. Joseph Graybell officiating. Burial was in Pleasant View Cemetery.

She was the daughter of Orlo and Hazel (McLeod) Hatt, born Aug. 16, 1929 in Flint. She married Walter Brockway Sept. 9, 1950, in Petersburg and had lived here for 32 years.

Mrs. Brockway was a member of the auxiliary to Summerfield Post 6509, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and of Monroe County Camp Fire.
