Rites Saturday for Mary A. Bateman, 82

Mary A. Bateman, 82, of 1440 First avenue, a lifelong Linn county resident, died Wednesday morning in a Cedar Rapids hospital folowing a long illness.
She was born March 4, 1882, near Central City and was married to George K. Bateman on January 1, 1900. She lived in Central City until moving to Marion in 1937. Mrs. Bateman was a member of the Central City Methodist church and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors are her husband; three sons, Henry of Winthrop, and Donald and Frederick of Marion; five daughters, Mrs. Jesse Potter, Mrs. Lester Peck, Mrs. William Van Natta, Mrs. Frank Smith, all of Marion and Mrs. Roy Williams of Springville; 19 granchildren; 42 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; a half brother, Eugene Zerby of Quasqueton, and four half sisters, Clara McMasters of California, Dessie Bumbardner of North Dakota, Kate Northrup of Cedar Rapids and Opal Floyd of Troy Mills.
Services: Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Murdoch chapel by the Rev. Clyde C. Scott. Burial:Mt. Clark cemetery, near Central City. Friends may call at the chapel Thursday after 11 a.m.
