Mrs. Willard Adams died on January 15, 1917 in Fort Jackson. Charlotte Marinda Brownell was born in Parishville, N. Y„ October 6, 1835. She was the daughter of R. S. and Electa Brownell, their family numbering nine girls and two boys. Of this large family only four remain; Mrs. Phebe Newcomb of Burlington, VT; Mrs. Amanda Crooks of Watertown, N. Y.; Caroline Fletcher and Charles Brownell of Fort Jackson, NY. On Dec. 8, 1859 she was united in marriage to Willard Adams and came to reside on Merchant Street. Of this union four children were born, Fred Adams, who kept the old farm and homestead after the death of Mr. Adams which occurred April 13, 1880 and cared for the mother in her declining health and years; Miss Florence Adams, who has been an invalid from her birth: Miss Caroline (Carrie) Adams, now Mrs. Charles Gibson, and a son Willard or "Willie", who died about two years after the father's death, at about nine years of age. The funeral was held from the homestead Friday afternoon, Jan. 17. Interment was made in the Fort Jackson-Hopkinton cemetery, beside her husband.
