Harold, the son of Harold J. Robinson Sr. and Bernice Robertson of Harvey IL enlisted in the US Marine Corps on September 21, 1967 in St Louis MO. He arrived in Vietnam in 1968 was assigned for duty with Company E, 2d Battalion, 7th Marines, 1st MARDIV (Rein) FMF. In mid-June, the 2d Battalion was assigned to the SLF and his unit was re-designated Company E, BLT 2/7, 9th MAB.

On November 12, during Operation DARING ENDEAVOR the Battalion CP (Command Post) near Thanh My in Duyen District came under a grenade attack and rifle fire by an enemy force. The security group engaged the hostile force and by the time contact was broken, the perimeter cleared from the aggressors, one Marine had been killed in action and four men were wounded. Wounded, PFC Robinson was evacuated to the 95th Evac Hospital, and later transferred to the USAF Hospital at Clark AFB where he died of the multiple shrapnel wounds he had sustained.
