Born in Denver, Colorado. Moved to Detroit around 1915. She studied at the University of Michigan. She wanted to become a doctor, but they wouldn't admit her because she was Jewish AND a woman. She ended up going to Social Work school. She went to Alaska and became a high ranking social worker. Then she moved to Berkley in California where she made a nice group of friends. She never married and made a good career working in social work for 27 years. She developed Alzheimer's a few years before she passed away and her friends helped take care of her. There is a running joke in the family that her cousin's daughter and son-in-law are still waiting for their wedding gift in the mail, 25 years later.
