Joan E. Closs Port Huron Joan E. Closs, 82, passed to eternal life on May 31, 2011. She was born October 8, 1928 to the late George and Edna (Hoover) Stokes. She married Donald Closs on August 3, 1947 in Pontiac. Joan attended school in Algonac and lived with her husband and children in Algonac, St. Clair and Port Huron. She lived a good life and loved her family. Joan loved to play bingo, play the piano, work crossword puzzles and read books. She had been in a shuffleboard league for many years and liked bowling and karaoke singing. She is survived by her children, Betty Jo Grougan, Donna Closs, Susan (Alan) Piper, Raymond Closs, Bill Closs, Don Closs, Janette (Sam) Kimmel and Charles (Shelia) Closs; 17 grandchildren; 44 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. Joan will also be missed by her sisters, Frances Fougnie and Patricia (Bob) Hopkins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Closs; four brothers, Thomas Stokes, Herbert Stokes, Arthur Stokes and Robert Stokes; and granddaughter, Jodi Piper. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 3, 2011 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Elder Gary Wesch of Marysville RLDS Church will officiate. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Port Huron Township. Pallbearers will be Scott Victory, Jim Atkins, Chip Wickings, Sam Kimmel, Ken Piper and Aaron Piper.
