Lafayette - Clara E Schmickle, 85, a lifelong resident of Linn county, a resident of Lafayette since 1927 and widow of John Jacob Schmickle, died Saturday in a Cedar Rapids nursing home. Born Aug 25, 1889, the daughter of John H and Katharine Krapf near Center Point, she was married to Robert A Cooper, Dec 17, 1913. She was married to John Jacob Schmickle, April 7, 1927, at Lafayette. Mrs Schmickle was a member of the Lafayette United Methodist church. Surviving are two sons, Robert H Cooper, Cedar Rapids, and Paul A Cooper, Ft Myers, FL; two daughters, Mrs Milton Weislogel, Gary, Ind, and Mrs Allan Sloan, Santa Ana, CA; 15 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; and a great great-granddaughter. Services: 10:30 Tuesday at Murdoch's in Marion by the Rev Clarence Burns. Burial: Lafayette cemetery.
