John H. Solberg, of Clintonville quietly left us on Friday, June 17, 2011. He was born on November 11, 1938 in St. Paul, MN, and was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold and Helen Solberg.


John was most proud of serving his country as an Army Ranger, a member of the 101st Airborne Division, and eventually as a Special Forces Green Beret. Following his service in the army he completed his education at the University of Minnesota. His civilian career began as a teaching golf pro at Somerset Country Club in St. Paul, after which he spent his life as an independent manufacturer's representative in the golf industry.


John is survived and deeply missed by his wife, Rosemary. There is a son and a 2 daughters from a previous marriage, John and Susan Solberg (Colorado and Texas) and his youngest daughter being put up for adoption at birth Jill resides in Minnesota he also has 6 grandchildren from his youngest daughter Jill., He has two sisters, Norma (Carroll) Klanderman and Mary Dwyer (Woodville and New Richmond), brothers-in-law, Dr. Thomas (Judy) Malueg of Neenah, and Attorney Douglas Malueg of Clintonville. John is also survived by his step children; Robert Ritzenthaler of Nairobi, Kenya, Mary (Ken) Pantoga of New York, Thomas Ritzenthaler of New York, and a former daughter-in-law, Willow Gerber of Washington D.C. He loved and was proud of his three step-grandchildren, Olivia & Margot Pantoga, and Jack Ritzenthaler.


The family is grateful to Theda Care at Home Hospice whose support made it possible to care for John at home throughout his illness. Thank you also to Dr. Kevin Mortara and Dr. John Swanson of Fox Valley Hematology & Oncology for their care.


Respecting John's wishes, he will be remembered privately. He was a brave soldier to the end. Love and Godspeed! The Beil-Didier Funeral Home, Clintonville, assisted the family.
