LaVerne A. Dowhower, 63, of Bemidji died Monday, January 24, 1993, at MeritCare- St. Luke's Hospital in Fargo, N.D. Funeral services were at First Lutheran Church. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery, Bemidji.

Mrs. Dowhower was born March 28, 1930, in Larimore, N.D., the daughter of Hjalmer and Clara Anderson, who farmed north of Larimore. After graduating from Larimore High School, she earned her diploma as a registered nurse at Deaconess Hospital in Grand Forks, N.D., in 1951. She was married Oct. 14, 1951, in Larimore to Don Dowhower. She practiced nursing in Baltimore, Md.; Los Angeles and Paso Robles, Calif.; Winona: and Grand Forks, before moving in 1963 to Bemidji where she had lived since. She was a member of First Lutheran Church and the Town and Country Homemakers and worked for many years as an election judge.

She is survived by her husband; two daughters, Cathy (Mike) Gunvalson of Woodbury and Denise (John) Lutz of Bemidji; a son, Paul Dowhower of Bemidji; six grandchildren; and her mother of Larimore, N.D.

She was preceded in death by an infant son, Brian; her father; and a brother Gerald Anderson.
