Funeral services for William L Holdeman, 85, of Elkhart, a native of Wakarusa, were conducted Tuesday morning in the White Funeral Home in Elkhart by the Rev Carl Studebaker of the First Church of God, Elkhart. Burial was made in Yellow Creek Cemetery northeast of Wakarusa.
Mr Holdeman died early Friday in the Elkhart General Hospital where he had been admitted shortly before.
Born here Nov 7, 1897, he and Mary E Loucks were married Feb 19, 1919, and she survives.
He was a switch tender for 46 years with the New York Central Railroad and had lived in Elkhart for 59 years. He was a member of Railroad Trainmen and the First Church of God.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, Ernest W, Elkhart; a daughter, Mrs Roscoe R (Shirley) Hartman, Elkhart; 10 grandchildren, three stepgrandchidlren, 74 great-grandchildren and eight step-great-grandchildren.
An infant daughter preceded him in death.
