"Bertha L. Bruce, 62, a resident of the Central City area for the past 45 years, died Saturday in a Cedar Rapids hospital after a long illness.

She was born Dec. 4, 1916, near Palo and was married to Franklin Bruce on Oct. 3, 1936, at Cedar Rapids. She was a member of the Free Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Rosemary Bruce, Central City, and Mrs. David Bauman, Cedar Rapids; one son, Frank Bruce Jr., Cedar Rapids; her mother Celestia Vredenburg of California; one sister, Lorna Evans of California; two brothers, Allen Vredenburg, Cedar Rapids, and Norman Vredenburg of California; and three grandchildren.

Services: 2 p.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church in Central City by the Rev. Duane Manning. Burial: Mount Clark Cemetery. Visitation at the Murdoch Chapel in Central City."
