"Marion Brownlie Dennis, a resident of Cedar Rapids before moving to Minneapolis, died there Wednesday. Born March 7, 1912, in Benton County, she spent her early years in East Peoria, Ill. She was a graduate of Eureka College, Eureka, Ill., and worked in social welfare in Pekin, Ill., and Marshalltown.
She joined the Waves in World War II and served two years in Hawaii. Miss Dennis served as secretary for the Cedar Rapids Youth building fund drive and later the joint Mercy and St. Luke's hospital building fund drive. Miss Dennis was a member of the Fairfax American Legion.
Surviving are her mother, Mrs. Herbert R. Dennis, Fairfax; two brothers, Warren C. Dennis, Fairfax, and Herbert R. Dennis, Jr., Mackinaw, Ill.
Memorial services: Turner chapel west at 3 p.m. Friday by the Rev. Barton G. Murray of Cedar Christian church. Military services: Fairfax cemetery by Pekomy American Legion Post of Fairfax. Friends may call at Turner west until 2:30 p.m. Friday. The casket will not be opened after the service."
