He had eleven children. The names of the children: Jacob, Jr; Arthur; Mabel Mary; Herman; Otis W.; Andrew; Louise; Nora; Glen; Helen; and Marceline.
Mr. Eckert was a faithful attended the St. Ann's Catholic Church in Effingham, KS. During his younger years, he took an active interest in community affairs and served for 20 years as a member of the Arrington School Board.
He died at the age of 73. He had been suffering from heart trouble and complications about a year prior to his death.
