Request to take another photo for this memorial was taken and fulfilled, getting a clear copy that has helped with letting people know this is not any double exposure , it is actually the case a mistake made on stone.

Missouri death certificate # 58-009539 Shows died in State Hotel 400 S. Jefferson. Birth place county of New York...now is that New York State. An extinct county in MO. from 1840 by a colony of Germans, or New York Township, Caldwell County, MO. Also, Five of New York's counties are each co-extensive with New York City's 5 boroughs nor does not have county governments. They are New York County (Manhattan), Kings County (Brooklyn), Bronx County (The Bronx), Richmond County (Staten Island), and Queens County (Queens). This will need to be reseasrched to find the birth place. Male, white, divorced. Retired Insulation Engineer. Mrs. Vest Cook in El, Dorado, Arkansas informant. Interred in Maple Park Cemetery March 18, 1958. Ayre-Goodwin, Inc. Funeral Home in Springfield. That company has been through a multitude of names. Today the name is Klingner-Cope Funeral Home at Rivermonte. That may be a place to start to see if there is any records for him.

Sent to me:
Double engraved, monument two different directions! One person is buried there and the other one the cemetery does not have any clue who he is or where he is buried. I found his memorial after looking up the MO. death certificate for him. See the link below.
Per staff at the cemetery: There is a person by that name that died in St. Louis it was Edward Helmers 1837-1916, the year after but is not buried locally. It appears the photo looks like it could be a double exposure. That is not the case, it is how the stone actually looks! The person buried there is the more difficult name to read, Edward D Helmer 1891-1958. The person not buried there is George Wm. Hutcheson 27 Nov 1946 -- 20 Nov 1956. It is really strange!

Brainstorms of what could have happened. Monument company made a mistake with the printing of the stone. Family offered it at a discount, or even free. Seems unlikely that the stone was blank, but maybe it was, the monument company had it done, and was cancelled, then they filled it in, and for reasons of weather wear it has worn the patching off that fixed the monument to make it show after some years of the other persons name.
It is know the monument supposed to be for Edward D. Helmer.
Things to check, who was the monument company that had the job, or was to make the monument. Would there be any explanation in their notes.

There is another Edward Helmers died Dec. 30, 1916 in St. Louis City, Certificate # 43033-a 30 Dec 1916. It does have a s on the end of the name. Buried in New St. Marcus Cemetery. Jan. 1916.

But the death certificate for George William Hutcheson show him buried in Eastlawn. There is a link to Elmer on the memorial him, and I am making one to George on this memorial. Anyone out there that has answers would appreciate the knowledge.

George William Hutcheson Nov. 27, 1946 - Nov. 20, 1956 is buried in Eastlawn Cemetery. He was a grade school student. In that same cemetery is a sibling, Sidney Brans Hutcheson.

April 1, 2019:
After trying to find the monument company by telephone calls this day and have not succeeded I was able to speak with a person that had been in the business for over 35 years and was told it was a case of an error on the monument for George William Hutcheson and the granite was filled in and Edward Helmer's information was engraved.
The expert was not able to tell me if that was a common practice during that time frame in the history because of age in years, but did not believe it was because of a parent working in the same profession.
So anytime a monument has an error on it and it is repaired then the old information will at some point in time become visible. The added as well remaining visible, as the case here with this monument.
I was asked if I was related and was told by this expert that it would be possible to have a stone made, and set at cost. Because this is not right for that to have happened to someone. I must say I admire the person for making the offer to fix this and let the stone be made correctly, dignified as should be.
Perhaps the family was offered this stone at a price reduction, and was told, or maybe even free. Thinking it would not matter to anyone alive at the time as they would have passed by then.
Still I do not know if there is a relationship between Edward Helmer and family, and George William Hutcheson, and there was agreement reached because of the monument company making an error on the stone, or they could have engraved the wrong name on it, and fixed it, or there was an error made on a stone for Hutcheson.
Unless someone comes forward with the truth of the matter, this will remain one of the mysteries not to be solved.

Lot well maintained all year round. The stone appears to be double names, one over the other. A story here for sure.
