Visitation is today and Friday for Elton Achterhof, 87. The Holland resident died Tuesday, December 26, 2000, in an area care center.

He was a member of Montello Park Christian Reformed Church, where he served as an elder and deacon.

He was the founder of Parkway Electric Co. and was past president of the Ottawa County Fair Board.

He was preceded in death by wife, Alvina, in 1992, and a son, William Allen Achterhof.

He is survived by children, Bob and Bonnie Achterhof, Jim and Carol Achterhof, Al and Judy Achterhof, Paul and Marge Achterhof, John and Barb Achterhof, Bill and Gail Achterhof, all of Holland, Lois and Paul Hendriksen of Jenison, Ruth and Dave Miedema of Wyoming, Myra and Randy Reimink of Hamilton; 30 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, William and Lois Achterhof, Alice Ver Schure, Theresa Achterhof, Geraldine Moore, all of Holland; brothers and sisters-in-law, Charlotte Houtman of South Dakota, Mabel Czerkies of Holland, Agnes Aman, Wilma Stephen, both of Wyoming, Annetta Romyn of Holland.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Montello Park Christian Reformed Church, 609 W. 20th St., with the Rev. Eugene Bradford officiating. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Notier-Ver Lee-Langeland Funeral Chapel, 315 E. 16th St.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials may be given to Montello Park Christian Reformed Church or Holland Christian Schools.
