Richard Andel was born Oct. 25, 1952, in Breckenridge, MN to Carl L. and Lila M. (Lord) Andel. He grew up and attended elementary school in Breckenridge, moving to Fargo with his parents in 1962. He continued his education in Fargo and attended Fargo South High School. In 1969 he entered the U.S. Marine Corps, serving as a mechanic in North Carolina until his discharge in 1973. He then returned to Fargo where he worked for White's Diesel in Fargo as a mechanic from 1973-74. He married Jackie Halverson on June 21, 1975 in Fargo. He worked for Jerry's Standard in Moorhead from 1974-77 and was employed by Burlington-Northern Railroad from 1977-88 where he was a switchman. From 1988 to present time he was employed by the Dakota Railroad Line in Wahpeton as a foreman.

He was a member of the Lost Boys Inc. Motorcycle Club, Moorhead.

Richard lost his life in a motorcycle-train collision in Fargo on Saturday, April 21, 1990. Funeral services were held at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Fargo on Tuesday with burial at Riverside Cemetery, Fargo.

He is survived by his parents; one son; one daughter; two sisters and three brothers.
