SCHUYLER J BERGEN

Schuyler J Bergen died at his home on Nassau Point on January 8, 1971. He had been a member of the New York Stock Exchange for over 40 years at the time of his retirement in 1964.

Mr Bergen was born in Brooklyn on April 27, 1895 and was educated at Poly Prep, Brooklyn. He served in the US Army in the 1st New York Cavalry and saw overseas duty with Co C 104th Machine Gun Battalion during World War I. He was active in Civil Defense and the Auxiliary Police of Brooklyn during and after World War II. He was a member of the American Legion, 1st NY Cavalry Post for over fifty years.

Mr Bergen was a member of the Buttonwood Club of the New York Stock Exchange, the Holland Society, the St Nicholas Society of Long Island and the North Fork Country Club. He was active in the Nassau Point Property Owners Association.

He leaves his wife, the former Margaret Bretz; two sons, Schuyler J Jr and Peter James and five grandchildren.

Interment took place January 11 in Cutchogue Cemetery.
