James Talmage Foote, 81, of 7616 Collins St., died this morning at 3:15 in Lewis County General Hospital extended care facility, where he had been a patient nearly a year. The funeral will be Friday at 11 a.m. at the Virkler Funeral Home, Rev. John Von Harten, pastor of the Lowville Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Lowville Rural Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday and Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Clara Mae Foote; four daughters, Mrs. John (Leigh) Le Gary, address unknown, Mrs. Vernon (Joyce) Pellam, Mrs. Dorrance (Sharon) De Lawyer and Miss Frances Foote, all of Lowville; two sons, Duane, in the Navy at Norfolk, Va., Paul, Croghan; 14 grandchildren; one great grandchild; nieces and nephews. He was born in Lowville March 29, 1893, a son of Ellis E. and Emma Shoemaker Foote, and for years sold tailor made clothes for the J. Simson Co., Later, he worked for the Asbestos Burial Casket company in Lowville. During World War I, he served in the Navy and was awarded the Victory Medal. He married Clara Mae Clarke at the Methodist parsonage in Trenton, January 19, 1931. He was a member of Lowville Memorial Post, American Legion, and former member of the Lowville Odd Fellows Lodge.
