Howard C. Sheller, 73, 519 Catalpa, died Thursday evening at Veterans Hospital in Marion following an extended illness. He was born in Memphis, Tenn., and moved to Delaware County as a child with his parents, Perry and Carrie Bailey Sheller. He graduated from DeSoto High School and served in the U.S. Army during World War I.
Mr. Sheller was employed with Indiana Gross Income Tax Division for many years and later had his own accounting office. He was a member of Delaware Lodge 46, F&AM; Scottish Rite, Valley of Indianapolis; Murat Temple, and Delaware Post 19, American Legion.
Surviving are his wife, Vera Shannon Sheller; a daughter, Mrs. Stuart R. (Barbara) Chase, Lakewood, Colo.; a sister, Mrs. Bitha Cultice, Muncie; a brother, Merle Sheller, RR 3 Muncie; and two grandson, Tim an Marc Chase.
Services will be held at the Meeks Mortuary 3:30 p.m. Sunday with Rev. Verdean Owens officiating. Emtombment will follow in Elm Ridge Mausoleum 9:30 a.m. Monday. Friends may call at the mortuary from 3 until 5 and from 7 until 9 p.m. Saturday and any time before the services Sunday.
