The funeral of the late William Abraham of Chatham Township, took place on Monday, March 2, at 2:30pm from his late residence on the Fourth Concession to Maple Leaf Cemetery, the Rev. Mr. Howard of Christ Church, Chatham, officiating.

The pallbearers were Dr. Charteris and Mr. John Patterson, of Chatham, Mr. A. McArthur, of Tupperville, Mr. Chas. Agar, of Louisville, and Messrs. Jas. Chinnick and Arthur French of Chatham Township.

Many friends and relatives from the city and county were present to pay a last tribute of respect to the deceased. Among relatives from out of town and vicinity were Messrs. M.G. Hay, of Toronto, manager of CoppClark Co; R.W. Young, of London, general freight agent; P.M.R. and wife; H.D. Smith, County Crown Attorney, of Chatham, and wife; Mrs. Mitton of Ridgetown, and Mrs. Doore of Detroit. The Chatham township council attended in a body; the town of Wallceburg was represented by Reeve Hinnegan, Ex-Warden S. Sommers and Councillor John M. Gibb; the town of Blenheim, by Ex-Warden Andrew Denholm; the Kent County Council by Warden Byron Robinson, of Romney, and Mr. J.O. Fleming, County Treasurer, of Chatham; the Chatham Board of Education by Inspector J.H. Smith, and the I.O.F. by Messrs. Arnold and Truax, of Chatham.

Numerous floral tributes testified to the esteem in which the deceased was held, there beign wreaths from the I.O.F., McKeough and Queen Mary schools, the township and county councils besides many from relatives and friends.

The late William Abrahm was the eldest son of Mary, and the late Robert Abraham, and had lived practically all his life in Chatham and Chatham Township. He is survived by his widow and four children, the youngest son, George Lauren, having predeceased him, those living being Robert Hay, of Ontario Agricultural College, Guelph; William Morice, of Louisville; Miss Mary Beulah, of McKeough School, city; and Miss Esther Ella, of Wueen Mary School, city.

His mother, Mrs. Mary Abraham, of 26 Grant Street, city, an aged lady of 91, also survives and one brother, John, of Grand Avenue East, Chatham Twp., and one sister Miss Esther, of McKeough School.

For the past two years he has been suffering from a weakened condition of the heart but was able to be about until about two months ago when the disease became much worse resulting in his death on Saturday February 28, 1914.

He was a highly respected farmer of Chatham township and active in the municipal affairs of both township and county having occupied the positions of auditor, Councillor, deputy-reeve, county councillor and warden.

In politics he was a life-long Conservative, serving his party with unswerving faith and had twice been offered the nomination of his party for East Kent.

Many friends and acquaintances join in extending their heartfelt sympathy to the family and relatives in their bereavement.
